to create a safe, consistent, and productive environment.

Cattle Care & Facilities

Feed Sourcing

Each fall, we prepare all the silage needed for the yard. Most corn comes from local farms within two hours and is steam-flaked on-site for better digestibility. Hay is sourced within three hours and ground into rations. DDG comes from a distillery in Onida, SD, and liquid feed and micronutrients are supplied by trusted livestock nutrition vendors.

Feeding Program

We offer a range of rations built from consistent, high-quality ingredients: flaked corn, silage, DDG, ground hay, liquid feed, and micronutrients. Rations are adjusted every 4–5 days for a smooth transition to a finished diet.

Feeding plans are tailored to each group—cull cows, finishing yearlings, and grass yearlings—and delivered three times daily to promote even intake and consistent access to fresh feed.

Pen Maintenance

After each group of cattle moves out, our crew thoroughly cleans and prepares the pens. Manure is removed down to the hardpan and sent to our composter. Low spots are filled with on-site sand, then pens are leveled and packed for safety and comfort. Smaller pens are scraped every rotation; larger pens every third. Water tanks are cleaned regularly and refilled before new cattle arrive.

Updates

We’re always investing in upgrades that enhance the safety, efficiency, and overall experience of our feedyard—for both our cattle and our team.

Over the summers of 2024 and 2025, we completed a full conversion of our wood fencing to durable pipe and cable, delivering long-term reliability and improved safety throughout the yard. We also expanded cement flooring in key areas to boost operational efficiency and support better animal comfort. These updates are part of our ongoing commitment to building modern, high-quality facilities.

Our 2025 improvements include a major upgrade to the processing barn, now outfitted with a sheet-metal tub and alley designed for enhanced durability and a smooth, continuous flow to reduce stress for both cattle and cowboys. This fall, we shifted focus to the feedmill, where older equipment is being replaced with more efficient, up-to-date solutions.
